Port Kembla Gateway No.6 Jetty Contract
The bulk handling facility in Port Kembla handles copper concentrate exports from the Newcrest Mining in Parkes and the Rio Tinto in North Parkes, with a present 800,000 tonnes a year.
The increased tonnage of copper concrete will bring an extra 30 or so ship calls a year, with the concentrate normally shipped in parcels of 10,000 to 15,000 tonnes.
Managing director Geoff Rex said that the company will now spend $8m on its facilities.
As part of these upgrades, Corroseal has been awarded a long-term contract. The work comprises of timber pile splicing, carbon fibre wrapping, fender repairs, dredging, supplementing of headstocks and girders
