Burnett River Traffic Bridge is located in Bundaberg QLD Australia, the bridge is heritage listed and was built in 1893.
Corroseal was appointed to design, repair and upgrade southern pier 1 steel caisson structure where an existing 6m long crack had reduced the structural load capacity of the bridge. The method adopted by Corroseal was to float in two half steel clamp sections 7m long and position around the damaged steel caisson.
Once the steel clamps were positioned around the caisson they were bolted together, then grout was injected to complete the upgrade of the bridge pier, therefore reinstating the load capacity of the bridge.
